Broadband £24!

Has anyone got Pipex broadband, sounds good at £24 a month, no connection fee and no minnium contract. Uses a usb modem, which they sell for £120.
Are all adsl modems the same, could i get a cheaper one from dabs etc.

Hi Gareth. I've just signed up for Pipex having done a lot of research at http://www.adslguide.org.uk/ The forum section is very useful. You can get cheaper and better usb modems.

Does it have to be USB ?

I have just signed up with Pipex and orderd an ADSL PCI modem with Micro Filter at total cost of £62.87 (inc P&P), not from Pipex

Note the free connection is only if you keep subscribed for the 12 months .. if you cancel before the 12 months then they will charge you the setup fee.

Good point about the cancellation! I've gone for a Conexant router/modem to use with two PCs. USB uses some of your processing power so is not ideal if you're into power gaming.

Just for the record if interested.

Signed up with Pipex last wednesday evening (8th May) and by 4pm today (Thurs 16th) I was up and running.

Yet they said would be by 20th May and connected 4 days earlier.

Now that is fast work and the difference in speed is amazing.
