Hi

Little advise please I have a samsung s3 but never turned on the gps what I, m trying to find out is does it use mobile data or wifi and more to the point are you charged for using it. I, m on a simple 8 sim from vergin media have been for afee years everything is 8p txt calls etc etc.

it will use mobile data to to populate the maps but you may well find the map data is loaded when on wifi. If it goes into an area were map data isn't loaded then it will use data.
I used the satnav on my Samsung s2 and found the map coverage was loaded but if I tried it abroad it would use mobile data as the maps were missing. Cracking sat nav on the sammys

The gps doesn't use data and you are not charged for using it

just find a gps app that uses offline maps and no data will be used
cant really help as to what as i dont use android

try navfree or OsmAnd

you can try iGO. it is really good and uses offline maps.
