I have some packets of Vintner's Harvest yeast which are a bit out of date so I thought I might make a strongish sugar wash using some cheap sucrose only.
Mikrobios discusses this in "Palatable spirit from palatable fermentations" to a much finer art than I was going to attempt but I thought it might be interesting to try and to possible flavour the wash afterwards. He does this for distilling but I was just going to try fermenting a 20% light spirit.
